After reading The Bolton News, Ed decided to also reminisce about Inter’s trip to The Reebok
After a very solid showing against Fiorentina last night, I was taken on a trip down memory lane after reading Marc Iles’ article looking back at the time Inter Milan faced Wanderers at The Reebok twenty years ago.
The likes of Toldo, Zanetti, Veron & Cambiasso all started against Big Sam’s Galacticos, with Edgar Davids and Adriano coming on as second half substitutes.
I was nine years old and my Grandad had surprised me with a ticket on the day. My Grandad sadly passed away last year. He’s the reason our family became Wanderers fan and I miss him dearly.
Having been an avid FIFA 04 player for months prior, I was ridiculously excited to see the Italian giants face off against Bolton.
There’s two things that stick out of the game that I remember most:
The first one being that I was too scared to go and get Edgar Davids’ autograph when was out warming up on the side of the pitch. Despite my Grandads best efforts to convince me otherwise, I wussed out.
The second one being Adriano’s goal. Had a perfect view of it & I’m still convinced it was offside.
We may have lost on the day, though it was a brilliant experience to see some of Europe’s best players come to Bolton.
Oh and I suppose it was alright watching Inter Milan too.
