The Victor Adeboyej-show

A commanding performance from Wanderers' leading scorer

Bolton Wanderers made it three wins out of three last night with another strong showing against Fleetwood Town. Sadly, some cockwomble did his upmost to steal the headlines by putting in yet another questionable refereeing display against Wanderers. 'Misuse of technology' sounds like the subtitle of the next Mission Impossible film not a valid reason to send off a manager yet somehow, it happened.

Anyway, let's not focus on the incompetence of an official who shouldn't be put in charge of another Wanderers game. Let's admire the brilliant, instinctive performance we saw from our now top goal scorer, Victor Adeboyejo.

Having arrived in January for £500,000, it was safe to say that expectations were high for Adeboyejo to immediately hit the ground running. After all, he was already in double figures for the season & had been Burton's best player for the first half of the season.

It just didn't work out for any of our January signings & Victor ended the season with just three goals in eighteen appearances.

However, you can just tell that this season is going to be a totally different story. Just three games in and Adeboyejo has already eclipsed his tally for Wanderers last campaign. Last night Victor became the first Wanderers player in twenty-one years to score a first half hat trick since Fredi Bobic against Ipswich Town. It was a clinical performance.

Last season Wanderers were guilty of not scoring enough goals and it already seems that situation has been rectified. Too much weight was put on the shoulders of Dion Charles to be the man to put away the chances & now he looks to have a blossoming partnership with a forward in red hot form.

If Dacres-Cogley and Co continue to be supplying the level of crosses they have been doing so far, Wanderers are going to score a hell of a lot more goals than they managed last year.
