Silence is golden...or is it

Chris ponders

We are a couple of weeks away now from THAT Wembley debacle. For me it hurt more than the Stoke thrashing years before, but that's a topic for another day.

Since the loss to Oxford, a section of the fanbase has been clamouring for some kind of statement from the powers that be on the subject of the game. We've lost games before, but the manner of this particular defeat stung badly and they want answers. What those answers might be and the form they might take, nobody is very clear, but what is clear is that a couple of players taking to Twitter and posting meaningless 'we go again' platitudes hasn't cut it with some.

So where do we go from here? The mutinous atmosphere of the post-Wembley emotions have subsided somewhat but fans still want to know where the club is heading.

To me, sacking Evatt was the right move. Yes he's taken us back up the leagues but I felt this season (and the latter half of last) we had stagnated somewhat. This was masked last year by the Papa Johns Trophy win. I believe that to not win League One with this squad and the investment we've had is criminal and failure to go up via the Play Offs should have been the final straw.

The fact that we are a couple of weeks down the road and he remains manager indicates to me that he's not going anywhere.

So if Evatt is to remain, which is fine with a lot of supporters, it's disappointing then to sit here in June with us not being linked to a single player. I don't feel like I have a right to expect to know anything when it comes to transfer targets but complete radio silence worries me.

Might it be that the future of the manager is STILL under discussion? If so then a decision should be made now, lest we get even deeper into planning for the upcoming season and waste valuable time.

Back him, or sack him. Just make a decision.
