Reaction: Bolton Wanderers 3-0 Lincoln City

Ed looks back at a comfortable opening day win for Wanderers

Much like last seasons first home game against Wycombe, Bolton Wanderers put in a commanding performance and ran out 3-0 winners against Lincoln City.

Having been heralded as one of the front runners for promotion by many journalists, podcasts & YouTube videos, Wanderers wasted no time in showing them why. Just four minutes in, Aaron Morley put in a fantastic corner that was wonderfully headed in the goal by a rejuvenated Jack Iredale.

George Johnston's unfortunate season ending injury in pre-season presented Iredale with the chance to cement a starting place on the left hand side of the back three and it's clear he's ready to take that opportunity. I thought he was superb & looked far more at ease there than he did playing as a wing back last season.

I'm sure most of you have seen his post match interview from Wanderers TV doing the rounds on Twitter & it's wonderful to hear his Dad is doing better back home.

Wanderers doubled their lead just before the hour mark & would you believe it - it came from another corner! Randell Williams put in a cross that Victor Adeboyejo gleefully headed in.

Fifteen minutes later it was game over. Just moments after coming on, George Thomasson's sensational first time ball over the top sent Kyle Dempsey away on the left wing & his ball across the box was put away by a sliding Paudie O'Connor.

It was a great team performance, especially from the likes of Dempsey, Iredale & Williams.

Randell 'Will Smith' Williams put in some impressive performances in pre-season and it's clear he looks set to be an integral player at left wing back.

Dempsey was at his energetic best & it was great to see the midfield three working in tandem to control the game.

It's definitely an encouraging start for Wanderers and it looks like it's going to be a real fun season to watch.
