Chris rates yesterdays defeat
Bolton Wanderers succumbed to Carlisle United at the Reebok in front of 23k fans, another poor performance in front of a big crowd. Wanderers again struggled to defeat a well organised defence and this is starting to become a regular occurrence.
Baxter 8 - still my MOTM despite what happened in the last minute. I'm assuming Evatt sent him forward and it was premature to say the least.
Toal 7 - battled gamely with the excellent Garner and was decent on the ball. Probably our best defender.
Forrester 4 - awful on the ball and ponderous when in possession. Very poor performance.
Iredale 5 - equally as poor on the ball and really struggled when Garner came onto his side. Improved when their striker went off.
Cogley 6 - saw lots of the ball but struggled to beat his man for the majority of the game.
Williams 3 - surely the most predictable player of all time. Quick, but doesn't use it, left footed, but comes inside EVERY SINGLE TIME. Weak in the tackle and ponderous on the ball. He needs to be dropped.
Thomason 4 - seemed timid compared to recent outings, presuming his upcoming suspension was playing on his mind. Another who was poor in possession.
Dempsey 5 - must be really disappointed in himself against his hometown side. Never in the game and rightly substituted.
Sheehan 6 - some neat touches as usual but very little penetration going forward.
Adeboyejo 4 - barely involved in the first half and then when he did get involved he was terrible. That early season form seems a million years ago now.
Charles 5 - battled gamely as usual but not a sniff of a chance on a day when his was badly let down by those who were meant to be providing him with the ammunition he needs.
Subs
Ndlundulu 5 - another one who is nowhere near the level we need or should aspire to. To give a three year deal to someone with 1/24 for Bolton and 7/78 in his career seems like utter insanity.
Morley 5 - brief involvement with nothing of note going on.
Ashworth 6 - at least tried to cross the ball, which Williams is completely incapable of doing.
Bodvarsson 5 - zero impact again
Manager
Evatt 3 - does he know his best team? The absence of quality game changers off the bench is a huge issue. Recruitment has always been a stick to beat him with and this upcoming window looms large
